Flowers for Friends #29: The Story of the Indian Blanket (Texas Homesick) | Original Mixed-Media Floral Painting

The first in a week of flowers created out of some homesickness, I found inspiration in the tale of the Indian Blanket flower. There are many variations of this Native American Texas folk legend from various indigenous tribes, but they all involve prayers for goodness and comfort and warmth to be wrapped around thier loved ones. The Great Spirit answers the prayers and this beautiful yellow and red flower sprouts every season as a reminder of the blessings.
